If you happened to stroll by Scarritt Bennett Center on Tuesday, August 9th, you might have heard something special drifting through the halls—laughter, new harmonies, and the unmistakable sound of a community coming together in song. That day marked the joyful launch of the SBC Christmas Community Choir, and our very first rehearsal was a celebration of music, connection, and the spirit of the season.
A Joyful Beginning
From the moment participants gathered—some familiar faces from the SBC Community Lunch, others from Nashville’s vibrant artist community, and many more drawn by a love of music and Scarritt Bennett’s mission—the energy in the room was infectious. Newcomers and seasoned singers alike shared good laughs, swapped stories, and dove into learning new holiday tunes. It was clear from the start: this choir is about more than just music; it’s about building a joyful, welcoming space for all.
Singing, Smiling, and Building Community
As voices blended and harmonies took shape, participants expressed genuine excitement about what’s ahead. “As the leader of this group, It was a joy to sing with others and this first day felt like coming home. Another participant, a regular at the SBC Community Lunch, expressed how the experience was fun—singing, laughing, and meeting new friends. The laughter and camaraderie were just as important as the music itself.
