May 2: Celebrate World Labyrinth Day at Scarritt Bennett!
You are invited! Spend World Labyrinth Day at Scarritt Bennett Center’s Peace Garden and Labyrinth, located on our campus bordering Grand Avenue between 19th and 18th Avenues S.
For people from across Nashville’s mid-town community, pausing to walk Scarritt’s labyrinth is a peace practice during the busy work week. On weekends, gatherings of friends and families walk the labyrinth together and enjoy BBQs on colorful blankets across the great lawn.
This summer do more than visit – become a part of Scarritt Bennett by making a donation to the Kathryn Mitchem Peace Garden and Labyrinth Development Campaign. We will be enhancing the labyrinth and garden design with sustainable hardscape and landscape features that will anchor the space for the next decades of Scarritt Bennett’s legacy.
Kathryn Mitchem is an alumni of Scarritt Bennett Center’s predecessor Scarritt College. She served as the department head for the Church and Community department and returned as a volunteer to the Scarritt Library and Archives.
Mentor, educator and friend to generations of students, her passion for teaching and unwavering support for her students left an indelible mark on our community.
Gifts made to this campaign will directly support Kathryn’s lifelong devotion to sacred spaces and endow her legacy of delivering transformative education embedded with creative learning opportunities at Scarritt College.
The next time you are looking for an oasis in mid-town Nashville, be sure to visit our 11-acre campus and make your way to the Peace Garden & Labyrinth. We serve lunch every Tuesday through Friday from 11:30am until 1p, and offer free campus tours on Tuesdays.
