What is the primary goal of the ekphrastic writing and poetry event? The primary goal of the ekphrastic writing and poetry event is to engage participants in a learning experience and practical practice of ekphrastic writing, culminating in a poetry reading that connects with the art displayed in the gallery.
How will the event encourage audience participation beyond just attending the poetry reading?
- Early Arrival and Writing Space: Attendees are invited to arrive as early as 5 PM, where snacks and dedicated space with couches and tables will be provided for them to engage in their own writing.
- Optional Ekphrastic Writing Session: An optional learning and practical practice session focused on ekphrastic writing will be offered at 6 PM, lasting between 30 to 60 minutes.
- Invitation to SNAP Photographers: Artists are invited to “meet the artist” poets <-> photographers out of this asynchronous collaborative experience.
🌟 Open Mic Sign-Up Optional – Come early if you want to write about the photography and share your own voice
