Join us for an evening of poetic storytelling and powerful reflection at Poet’s Corner, Scarritt Bennett Center’s beloved monthly reading series. This May, we are thrilled to welcome Nina Adel, an award-winning poet, musician, educator, and community advocate whose work uplifts immigrant voices and explores the intersection of art, identity, and resilience.
Nina [she/her] is the recipient of a 2023 Yaddo Artist Residency and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Hamline University and an MA in English from Belmont. Her work has been widely published in national journals and anthologies, and she is the winner of the Bellevue Literary Review’s Buckvar Prize. Nina is the author of the chapbook Sugar Crash (2024), with a follow-up volume set for release in Fall 2025.
As director of the Immigrants Write Workshop through The Porch literary arts center, she brings voice to underrepresented communities through writing. A Berklee-trained musician, English professor, and mother, Nina lives and creates in Nashville, Tennessee.
