Who’s On Campus? TN State Senator Charlane Oliver & GA State Senator Tonya Anderson
On any given day people from all walks of life cross Scarritt Bennett’s campus to walk the labyrinth in our Peace Garden, dine at Community Lunch, attend conferences and retreats, walk their dogs and enjoy family outings on our peaceful 11 acre campus in MidTown Nashville.
We were honored to host Tennessee State Senator Charlane Oliver and Georgia State Senator Tonya Anderson who were on campus to tape an episode of Conversations at the Intersection with Rev. Kelli X, who serves as the Director of Racial Justice Ministries for Scarritt Bennett.
As Black women who legislate in the south, both senators work with a wide variety of social issues that affect communities across Georgia and Tennessee.
Senator Anderson represents Georgia’s 43rd District and is a member several critical committees including Appropriations, Economic Develop & Tourism, Reappointment & Redistricting, Regulated Industries & Utilities and Veterans, Military, Homeland Security.
Senator Charlane Oliver represents Tennessee’s 19th District and is a member of the Energy, Agriculture and Natural Resources committee as well as Government Operations, Joint Commerce, Labor, Transportation & Agriculture and Joint Education Health & General Welfare committees.
Stay tuned for their upcoming episode of Conversations at the Intersection, moderated by Rev. Kelli X.
