Rebuild: Finding Strength Amidst Life’s Ruins
By Rev. Sondrea L. Tolbert, J.D., M.Div.

Wall in ruins
Recently, a car unexpectedly hit the stone barrier wall in front of Wightman Chapel. The impact was a jolt, a stark reminder that life can sometimes feel like it’s been shattered in an instant. Yet, as we watched the wall being repaired stone by stone, it brought to mind the story of Nehemiah.

Rebuilding the wall.
Nehemiah faced crumbled walls and opposition, yet he responded with prayer, persistence, and purpose. He rebuilt — not just the wall, but the spirit of his people.
This week, as we focus on the word Rebuild, let’s consider how we can:
- Rebuild Together: Stand side by side, just as the families did in Nehemiah’s time.
- Rebuild Relationships: Seek reconciliation and restoration.
- Rebuild in the Face of Opposition: Stay anchored in prayer and resolve, even when challenges persist
Life may feel like it’s in ruins, but God is still at work, piece by piece, brick by brick.
Let’s pray for those affected by the recent tornadoes and those whose lives feel like rubble right now.
May God grant you the courage and strength to rebuild!

Wall repaired.
