United Women in Faith Screening: Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools

February 6 @ 6:00 pm7:30 pm CST

Join UWF next week, on February 6,  from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Central Time for a special screening of Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools. The screening will be followed by a time of small group discussion and reflection.

In 2025 and for the next 4 year cycle in the United Methodist Church (quadriennium) United Women in Faith (UWF) reaffirms their steadfast commitment to end mass incarceration and the criminalization of communities of color, with a special focus on interrupting the school-to-prison pipeline. This is a key social justice priority of UWF.

It is also a shared priority with Scarritt Bennett, our tenents of Racial Justice, Women’s Empowerment, Spiritual Formation and Transformative Education.

If you’d like to learn more about the school-to-prison pipeline and understand ways you can make a difference in your community, this screening is a wonderful way to begin or build upon your advocacy.

But that’s not all! At the end of the film screening, UWF will be inviting you to submit an application for a film screening license to replicate this event in your own community. They have purchased 30 additional screening licenses with the intention to go local as a means of scaling up the shared work.

Thirty UWF affiliated groups will receive a free Pushout film screening license to host a film+discussion event.

This is an opportunity to learn while leading, educating neighbors in your local community and shifting the conversation on the school-to-prison pipeline.
