About the Program
The evening’s repertoire will take audiences on a journey through musical interpretations of mythology, deep emotions, and historical influences. The program includes:
🎼 Six Riffs After Ovid by Michael Daugherty – A contemporary solo oboe work transforming mythological characters into modern icons.
🎼 Oboe Quartet in F Major, K. 370 by W.A. Mozart – A lively and expressive piece showcasing the oboe’s elegance.
🎼 Five Negro Melodies for Piano Trio by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor – A tribute to African American spirituals with powerful arrangements.
🎼 Sonata for Oboe and Piano by Brian Raphael Nabors – A dynamic and colorful piece written to highlight the expressive nature of the oboe.
🎼 Phantasy Quartet for Oboe & String Trio, Op. 2 by Benjamin Britten – A masterpiece blending Renaissance influences with a modern touch.
