Scarritt Bennett Center presents a unique retreat opportunity with scripture as our foundation. We will embrace songs as a tool for reflection, exploring music and songwriting from negro spirituals to musicals. We will write and share stories of the past, present, and future by writing and sharing our stories and God’s story. Dive into scripts and poetry in creative expression as we experience theater, spoken word, and poetry in practice. Gain professional guidance in areas of stage presence and performance as we present and perform original works of art with a community of support.
This retreat will be a modular experience of unique moments for experiencing professional performances, deconstruction of methods for producing artistic expressions, reconstruction in creative expression and practice, and then presentation with participant performance opportunities.
One registration gives you access to attend as few or many sessions as you would like culminating in a closing performance on the last day of the retreat.
Explore creative ways to tell and retell the stories that shape us as we focus on scriptures of the Lenten season. Be renewed and empowered as co-creators of transformative performances in a spirit of excellence. We are excited to see you engage in creative expressions so that you can take these works of art back to your faith community for use during Lent next year.
