The Belle H. Bennett Speaker Series, live streamed from the Scarritt Bennett Center’s Bennett Hall social rooms, proudly features former Scarritt College students, Stacy Douglas and Tony Peterson. These accomplished men will delve into how their Scarritt education has informed and inspired their respective paths in ministry and beyond.
Stacy Douglas, from Leakesville, Mississippi, holds an educational background with a BS in Choral Music Education from the University of South Alabama, a Master in Church Music from Scarritt Graduate School, and a Master of Divinity from Drew University. Currently pastoring at First United Methodist Church in Brookhaven, Mississippi, Stacy is an Elder in the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church and has been consecrated as a Diaconal Minister. His deep appreciation for the arts and nature reflects his holistic approach to pastoral ministry.
Anthony “Tony” Peterson is a Scarritt Graduate School alum with a degree in Christian Education. With an extensive career spanning youth ministry, national agency roles within the United Methodist Church, and roles in Christian higher education, Tony now focuses on career coaching, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) efforts. He is a recognized speaker, having delivered popular TEDx talks on race and empathy, and works with a diverse range of clients including Harvard University, Nike International, and the Country Music Association. Tony lives in Nashville, Tennessee, enjoying life close to his 12 grandchildren.
