My Unique Story: Visual and Verbal Storytelling

Join us as we learn creative techniques in art and writing to use to tell stories. Each piece of art will reflect different points in our lives and will include a Life Map collage, mixed media quote cards and a mixed media accordion book. Using writing prompts and engaging in writing exercises, we will also craft poems. Each participant will share a 3-5 minute poem on the last day.

All supplies included. Light snacks will be available. Students are encouraged to bring their own lunch.

About the Retreat Leader

Ashley Mintz is a visual artist and writer creating and residing in Nashville, Tennessee. Mintz can often be found exhibiting her art and reading poetry at different galleries and festivals around Nashville and in other cities in the South. An avid lover of film, Mintz has had her original instrumental music used in indie and short films and several of her paintings have been used in the background of two films.

Mintz regularly teaches art and writing workshops to help others cultivate their creativity and to use art as a way of healing.
