Rita J. Maggart is a native middle Tennessean writing and making art in Nashville. Her books, Portraits, Poems and Prayers, In the Growing Places, and a gift book series, Mama Says… give Rita the opportunity to exhibit her art and speak to audiences throughout the Southeast. Nashville singer/songwriter, Angel Pontier has been inspired to put Rita’s words to music and will be a beautiful addition to Rita’s poetry reading at Scarritt Bennett Center’s Poet’s Corner. Rita will also exhibit original charcoal portraits from her book and share her mission statement, “Always, always I must communicate and create.”
