Micah Priest fell in love with music at a young age, starting her journey as a musician playing the piano and hand bells in elementary school. Following her training in piano, Priest was swept away by classical music’s complexity and ability to stir up emotion. Growing up in a Southern Gospel church in Decatur, AL, Priest witnessed the power of music to unite, heal, and uplift her community, and began studying wind instruments, including the oboe, alto saxophone, and clarinet. Supported by her family and church, Priest excelled in at instruments, along with her powerhouse voice, receiving numerous awards and honors for her dedication, skill, and raw talent. Priest began leading her church’s worship at age 15, which launched her career as a multi-faceted musician. Finding her voice, Priest eventually became a part of the UNA Collegiate Singers group and Chamber Choir.
Classically trained in jazz and contemporary arts, Micah has traveled and performed with many ensembles, artists, and bands across the nation, as well as recorded music in studios. Priest’s passion in life is to touch people’s souls through her gift of song, and to help them move through and release those things that do not serve them. Joining Priest for her Christmas concert performance is a collaborative group called Lyrical Alchemy, a group of musicians who share the same intentions of blending spirituality into their music to touch people’s lives in a healing way.
