Dr. Bernice A. King Calls For “Heart Change”

This week, we had the incredible honor of hosting Dr. Bernice A. King for a transformative conversation in historic Wightman Chapel, 67 years after her father, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Titled ‘Transforming a Dream into Legacy’, this event was deeply impactful and moved hearts and minds.
Reflecting on her parents, Dr. King shared thoughtful insights. “She taught me how to handle emotionally challenging situations and not lose my head. My mother was always graceful under pressure”, she remarked. Speaking of her father, she added, “His life was taken from him, and there was a lot of unfinished work. I feel called to that work. I feel especially called to help people understand how he was successful in doing the work.”
In closing, Dr. King commissioned us to find a way to transcend the polarization of our society and connect with different kinds of people. She said, “While we’re working on legislative change, we also have work on heart change.”
