Juneteenth Worship Service Resources and Recording

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we are reminded that freedom is not only a historical milestone but also an ongoing call to justice. While Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States, it also invites us to confront the realities of racial inequity that continue to shape our communities today.

We invite you to revisit this powerful liturgy written by Rev. Linda Furtado and presented in partnership with Dream 7 Theater Productions as part of the 2024 Juneteenth Worship Experience for the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference of The United Methodist Church. Through worship, storytelling, music, and dramatic performance, this experience calls participants to remember the past, bear witness to the present, and actively engage in the work of building a more just and equitable future.

Read the full liturgy and watch the complete worship experience and theatrical production as an opportunity to reflect, learn, lament, celebrate, and renew your commitment to racial justice and beloved community.
