Radical Peace

Image: Texas State Rep. Nicole Collier District 95 from Fort Worth sleeps at her desk on the Texas House floor on Monday, Aug. 18, 2025 after refusing to sign an agreement to be under police escort. (Rep. Nicole Collier) “I refused to sign. I will not agree to be in DPS custody. I am not a criminal. I am exercising my right to resist and oppose the decisions of our government. So, this is my form of protest,” she said.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:7

Radical peace is not passive—it is power. It is resistance against every force that tries to tear you down, distract you, or derail your purpose.

Scripture reminds us that “the thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly” (John 10:10). Peace is your weapon of faith against the enemy’s plan.

Peace is anchored in prayer. It comes when people pray over you and with you, not prey on you. Peace rests in the assurance that God has you—when nothing else seems steady, God remains unshakable.

Peace is not the absence of conflict but the reliance on the presence of God in the middle of it all. Peace in spite of the doctor’s report. Peace in the face of unfair decisions. Peace under the weight of work demands. Peace when plans are delayed. Peace in grief. Peace when our democracy is under attack or when justice is delayed. Peace because God has not left us alone.

Rep. Collier’s picture of sleeping at her desk on the Texas House floor is a depiction of what radical peace looks like.

This peace surpasses human understanding because it does not depend on circumstances but on Christ, who is our peace. It resists chaos, silences fear and strengthens us to keep moving forward in faith.

Life Application:

  • When stress rises, pause and breathe a prayer: “Lord, let your peace guard my heart and mind.”
  • Surround yourself with people who pray with you and for you not prey on you!
  • Practice peace daily—choose not to be consumed by conflict, but to be centered in Christ.
  • Stand as a witness of peace in your family, community, and even in the face of national turmoil.

Radical peace is not an escape — it is empowerment. It is a declaration that no matter the circumstance, “God is with us.”

Prayer for Radical Peace

Lord of Peace,

In a world filled with chaos, conflict, and uncertainty, we turn to You. Guard our hearts and minds with the peace that surpasses all understanding. Teach us to rest in Your presence, even when storms rage around us.

When fear tries to steal our joy, let Your peace speak louder.

When anxiety seeks to overtake us, remind us that You hold us steady.

When injustice rises, empower us to stand firm, anchored in Your peace.

Make us vessels of peace in our homes, our communities, and our nation. May we carry Your radical peace wherever we go, resisting the enemy’s plan and reflecting the abundance of life You promised.

In Jesus’ name, Amen
