Join us for the Second Annual Black Sacred Music Weekend, sponsored by Scarritt Bennett Center and Nashville Black Music Association.
The weekend begins on Friday February 28 at 7p with a special performance of Black Hymnody II featuring The Crimm Singers in Wightman Chapel.
We gather again at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning for a workshop and Clinic entitled Spirituals! Spirituals! Spirituals! led by Dr. James Abbington. Join us in Harambee Auditorium, located in Fondren Hall on Scarritt’s campus, for this dynamic session. Dr. James Abbington serves as Associate Professor of Church Music and Worship at Candler School of Theology, Fellow with The Hymn Society of US and Canada, and is a member of the Gregoian Institute of America.
Lunch will be served at noon and at 1 p.m. return to Harambee Auditorium and take part in a community town hall entitled The State of Music in the Black Church.
