Capital Campaign for Audio & Visual Equipment

Joyce Sohl’s impact on Scarritt Bennett Center and on women and men across the globe is immeasurable. Because of Joyce’s strong faith and convictions, Scarritt Bennett Center not only exists, it thrives as a place where women are empowered, ordinary people organize for justice and change, and laity find their faith renewed, strengthened, and transformed. Joyce’s Soul Work programs—such as Poet’s Corner, Tuesdays in the Chapel, and Vespers & All That Jazz—reach thousands of people every year and are central to the spiritual life of many. Whether she is bringing people to our campus or connecting with them through our digital platforms, Joyce is a tender yet fierce presence in people’s lives, inspiring individuals and community to grow sacred and strong.

Honor Joyce’s legacy with a gift to our Sohl Space campaign.

For more than 30 years, Scarritt Bennett Center has pioneered creative, reflective, and transformative programming on such critical issues as racial justice, women’s empowerment, interfaith dialogue, creation care and sustainability, and peace and justice. In recent years, we’ve moved from offering these programs in person to making them accessible online, allowing us to reach thousands of individuals who have now become integral to the Scarritt Bennett Center community, even from afar.

Sohl Space Continued
At Scarritt Bennett Center, we believe hospitality is justice.

That means we don’t just accommodate guests, we anticipate them. We ensure their experience is the best it can be.

With your donation, the Center will invest in the audio and video equipment to make the program experience better, both on campus and for those attending virtual programs across the country.

It matters to the viewer with hearing impairment or visual impairment, for example, that our digital programs have crisp audio and visuals. It matters to the distant worshiper, whose weekly connection to God and community is our Vespers & All That Jazz service, that they can livestream and connect with other viewers, rather than just watch it along. We can cut through their isolation and bring them closer to us and to others in real time.

Joyce’s programs, along with our Racial Justice initiatives, have immense impact on countless people across the country. Your support will honor Joyce Sohl’s vision of broadening Scarritt Bennett Center’s reach. With the right equipment, transformative education can happen anywhere you are. Help us make that possible.

Support the Campaign

When you contribute to the Sohl Space Campaign, you make the following purchases possible.

Icon of a digital mixer
Digital Mixer
Digital mixers would allow us to combine and equalize multiple audio input signals for programs that combine in-person and livestreaming, like Poet's Corner and Christmas Concerts.
Icon of a camera
PTZ Optics Camera
New Optics cameras would enhance visual quality of online worship services and livestream programs, allowing us to pan in different directions, tilt angles, and zoom in high definition.
Icon of speakers
Boost Speakers
New speakers would improve sound quality during worship services in Wightman Chapel like Vespers & Tuesdays in the Chapel, improving the worship experience for those with hearing impairments.
Icon of a laptop
Macbook Pro
Macbook Pros are the best option for handling multiple professional-grade software programs—like video editing and livestream production programs—so that virtual and in-person events can be managed all from a single device.
Icon of a microphone
Cables, Tripods & Microphones
New equipment requires new accompanying accessories. New microphones would eliminate feedback and background noise, tripods would enhance visual capabilities, and new cables are necessary to ensure technical and electrical safety.
Icon of a switcher
Video Production Switcher
A new video production switcher would ensure that transitions between cameras and frames are seamless during livestream programs and pre-recorded worship services, removing any visual distractions for online attendees.
