and singer-songwriter, Angel Pontier!
Rita J. Maggart is a native middle Tennessean writing and making art in Nashville. Her books, Portraits, Poems and Prayers, In the Growing Places, and a gift book series, Mama Says… give Rita the opportunity to exhibit her art and speak to audiences throughout the Southeast. Nashville singer/songwriter, Angel Pontier has been inspired to put Rita’s words to music and will be a beautiful addition to Rita’s poetry reading at Scarritt Bennett Center’s Poet’s Corner. Rita will also exhibit original charcoal portraits from her book and share her mission statement, “Always, always I must communicate and create.”
Angel Pontier is a professional singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and studio engineer. Pontier has had cuts by the Isaacs and various artists on Word Records as well as numerous independent labels, and is one of only a few women in Nashville to own and engineer a 24-track recording studio, called “Eastside Sound.”
Pontier has released two solo albums. Her latest release, “I Am Here”, includes songs inspired by the writings of Rita Maggart‘s book, “In the Growing Places”. Pontier’s second project, “123 Menagerie”, in partnership with Katie Brooks Clayton, features children’s songs, riddles, rhymes and animation. Pontier is available for concert bookings, house concerts, worship services and women’s retreats.
