Vespers & All That Jazz: “Jesus As Shepherd”
April 25 @ 6:30 pm –7:15 pm CDTFree
Vespers & All That Jazz is a unique worship experience that uses words and music from a variety of sources to encounter the Sacred. We understand jazz to be a process of making music; music which shapes the service and helps us experience the interruptive Spirit of God in ourselves and others. The style is experiential. Open minds, open hearts, and open ears are essential. We hope for justice, compassion, peace, and wonder in response.
Theme: Jesus As Shepherd
Scripture: John 10:11-16
Music: ST. AGNES by John B. Dykes; “Like A Shepherd He Feeds His Flock” by Robert J. Dufford; SYMPHONY by Johannes Brahms; ST. COLUMBA, an Irish tune; “Precious Lord, Take My Hand” by Thomas A. Dorsey, Jr.; RESIGNATION, USA tune, 19th cent.
